Starting with the sweet melody of “I’ve got two tickets to”… Paradise Music Festival, where your escape from the nine to five is waiting. Held at the Destin-Ft. Walton Beach Convention Center, you may wonder what you’ll find there. For starters, you can expect three whole days of a vacation-fueled indoor music festival with seven of your most beach-loved bands. The venue has 700 reserved seats, a state-of-the-art sound system that comes with a light show to feast your eyes on, and a TV screen that is 30 feet big. That’s not all there’s a dance floor to get your boogie on. You might wonder what happens when you get hungry or parched from all that singing along. Have no fear, fellow paradise partiers, for food and drink, are here and will be provided by Aramark services. Paradise Music Festival is truly all you need for one heck of a time.
Classical Connections: Steven Banks
Get ready for an evening that’ll have you saying “That’s a classic.” Pickles may or may not be provided, but classical music certainly will be. Soothe your ears with music played by saxophonist Steven Banks, who puts on a show so good the entire performance is based around him. Banks won the Avery Fisher Career Grant and Sinfonia Gulf Coast’s Young Concert Artist prize and is killing the sax game all around Destin. Enjoy an evening made for dramatic and inspirational sounds you’ve never experienced before.
Mattie Kelly Park and Nature Walk
Vacation is all about fun, and sometimes we forget that getting that body into motion can also be a good time. Get ready to stretch those legs and breathe in some fresh air at Mattie Kelly Park and Nature Walk. Who is Mattie Kelly anyway? Kelly was a native Floridian, who studied at Rollins College and then went on to acquire a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Florida State University. She was a philanthropist and patron of the arts. Kelly lived from 1912 – 1992, and her legacy lives on through this park and her arts foundation. As far as the park is concerned, while there, you’re free to explore the wide stretch of outdoors with a 10.13-acre bayou access park. This striking area has a pier, a picnic area, and the beach, of course. Mattie Kelly Park and Nature Walk is the perfect place for serenity and calm before heading back into the world of high energy and parties.
St. Paddy’s Day Delight
You didn’t think we were going to leave out some serious St. Patrick’s fun, did you? No way, St. Paddy, baybay. Welcome to a day almost as green as our seas. When we say green, we mean it. This event at The Village of Baytowne Wharf will be covered in green from the lagoon area to the lights. You may wonder what happens at one of these events; you can expect live music, for starters, from Shenanigans and performances from the Carpenter Academy of Irish Dance. Jet ski, that’s right – it’s Irish dancing on a jet ski. It doesn’t get more Florida than that, folks. This spectacular event will be held Friday, March 17th, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm – plenty of time to find that pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, metaphorically, of course.
Parasailing
One of the ways that you can spend time while at the beach as the sun is out is going to Parasailing Destin. March is a great time to go parasailing as the weather is warming up. This is a fun activity to do with friends since many schools will begin their spring break. While parasailing you will be able to get a whole different view of the beach you are used to seeing. Who knows, you might be able to see some dolphins while up in the air. The great thing is this location, Parasailing Destin, is open all week long as long as the weather is permitted. What a perfect way to soak up some sun while having a fun time hanging out with friends or family. Before you head over, make sure to pre book your parasailing adventure for the day you want.
